10 years ago, my sister Luci and I started a tradition of adventure travel. It was a way to connect, rejuvenate, push our bodies, and process the ups and downs that life brings. We had friends and family join us on these trips, or sometimes we would travel alone.
This year was our first international adventure trip for just the two of us and we made the journey to the Argentinian portion of Patagonia. We spent most of our time in Los Glaciares National Park, a World Heritage site, the home to the third largest glacier formation in the world (behind Antarctica and Greenland). The town of El Chaltén is the hiking capital of Patagonia, home to the epic Mount Friz Roy – the iconic Patagonia clothing company logo. We also spent time in La Estela and El Calafate.
In total, we hiked 50 miles over 5 days, with an elevation gain of 7,100 feet. It is late summer here, where temps ranged from 30-55F and we experienced sleet, rain, strong winds, but also the most beautiful blue skies.
We were exposed to the generosity, passion, and kindness of Argentinians through food, music, dance, tradition, and of course Yerba Matte.
I am so thankful for the ability to push the capability of my physical body and see remote parts of the world.
But I am most grateful for the opportunity to do this with my sister, Luci. The ability to get off the grid, push and support each other, talk deeply about literally anything, and experience unconditional love, is a precious gift.
We continue to feel the travel and adventure bug, and are already planning our next trip. Love you so, ride or die!
