Let’s Go Abroad

Up to this point, of our travels since COVID have taken us exploring the US in our adventure van.  We have been able to visit all the National Parks in the lower 48 (except 1) and have hit 52 of the 63 parks.

When we were asked by our friends Krishna and Chris if we would be interested to join them for a trip to Southeast Asia we couldn’t say yes fast enough.  This is a part of the world neither of us have been to, and what a treat to be exploring with such experienced travelers.

We left Toledo on Friday night and arrived in Singapore very early Monday morning – 30 hours of flying and a 13 hour time difference.  The trip isn’t for the weary!  We are traveling light so we are nimble – one backpack per person.

Singapore is so many things….clean, beautiful, organized, opulent, and diverse.  We have been able see in influences of India and China, while also the intertwining of religions – Buddhist, Hindu, and Muslim.

We stayed in the amazing Marina Bay Sands with incredible views of the city over the 57th floor infinity pool.  We have walked a crazy number of steps in 90+ degree with weather with high humidity, doing our best to see as much as we can before we migrate to our next destination – Clarke Quay, Buddha Tooth Temple, Chinatown, Merlion City, the Muslim Quarter, Little India, cloud forests and flower gardens.  Such a mash up of all things beautiful and colorful.  And so many food choices at all the hawker complexes.

It has been a whirl wind visit, but man did we pack a lot into 2.5 days.  And none of this would be possible without the generosity and teaching of our friends.  More to come soon, we are off to Malaysia to visit Malacca and Kuala Lumpur next!
