With the international borders closed to Americans, and NYC a ghost town with limited face to face interaction, we decided to re-prioritize. RV glamping to all the national parks We love the idea of hitting up every national park in the US. So far, we have only scratched the surface. Several years ago we saw an article about a road trip over 1 year to see all the US parks, and we were intrigued. And the best way, we thought, to do it would be in a luxury/small RV. Hence our current rental of a 2006 Mercedes Sprinter Van as a test and learn. We are kicking the tires on a home on wheels, with the ability to be completely off the grid. Utilizing non conventional parking, and moving from place to place to see the USA over one short week while I still work part time. And from here we decide what to buy and how we will trick it out to be our own.
First stop? Leaf peeping from Acadia National Park, Maine through North Carrol, New Hampshire…over to Stowe, Vermont and then down to Manchester. Across the Finger Lakes into Auburn, NY and finally heading back home. So I thought it would be nice to document our voyage, as we learn and modify to finally land on what works best for us for the years to come.
I finished my sound therapy class at 330 today, after experiencing an amazing weekend with our kids. We celebrated the Green Card Cassidy’s husband Mando received. And we welcomed his sister and her husband to our our home for a visit (on a trip visiting the US from the UK). My parents were able to come as well. My family continues to grow, and the stabilty they feel is so beautiful and makes me so happy. I spent time teaching yoga, and practicing Reiki on Hayley. Dropped the foster dog off to his sitter for week, and kissed Riley goodbye as she was working on homework for Cooper Union from the comfort of our distance learning home in Toledo.
We drove out of Dodge around 430 pm, and are making our way to Uthica, NY for an overnight sleep. Our desire is to drive straight through to Acadia National Park tomorrow. We plan to be there for 2 days and drive the 27 mile ring road, as well as having some hikes up our sleeve (The Beehive, Jordon Pond, Cadillac Mountain). We will see how much is assessible with our beast of a vehicle. At the end of the day this is meant to be an adventure in learning.
Isolation in our house during COVID is one thing. Isolation in a 100 sq ft will be another story 🙂
