Leaf Peeping 2020 Day 4 – we made it to New Hampshire

Woke up when my body wanted to wake up (8am).  Brushed my teeth while I became very aware we were out of water.  To do for today….find water to fill the tank.  On a high note, we think we have the hot water tank running.

Headed into the park for one last hike.  We know it will be raining when we hit New Hampshire in the afternoon so decided to spend a little bit longer in Acadia and drive while it rains.  Did the loop at Jordan Pond. Such pretty views.  John was still having a ton of issues with his left knee, but he brought some walking poles and decided to take them along.  He now swears by them…as he had zero knee pain on our hike (it was a pretty easy hike, but glad to hear his knee is better).  The pond was crystal clear, the trees were all changing colors.  The rocks along the edges were fun to hike on.

We left the park by 1, knowing we need to get back someday.  But also knowing we need to have a shorter RV in length and height if we make the trip.

This afternoon was a drive down Rt 1 as we looked for water to fill the tank.  Finally located some at a campground (hallelujah).  And we are now on our way to Brenton Woods, NH for our Homeaway stay.

The leaves all along lower maine as well as into New Hampshire are just amazing.  A ton of vibrant reds, yellows, and oranges.

Booked another Homeway for tomorrow the 8th in Woodbury, VT outside Stowe.  Goodrich’s Maple Farm.

We can hike tomorrow in New Hampshire

It took us forever to find our Harvest Host location.  First, it was pouring rain….second GPS tried to take us up and over a 7,000 ft mountain (Mt. Washington) and the auto road was closed…third, no GPS.  I was trying to do my chakra class by audio/video at the same time as was a complete fail.  We had to go around the mountain which added 1 hour to our trip, and we travelled through a BLM empty forest for several miles (somewhat concerned if the gate was going to open on both sides for entrance and exit).  Honest to goodness, it felt like something out of the shining.

I made rice and beans for dinner with the stove. Super easy, but I added too much salt.  I prefer to take out more, but that is completely unreasonable when you are in the middle of nowhere.  After which John stated, “we aren’t in the middle of nowhere, I bet we are 30 minutes away from a WalMart” to which I did a google search to find the closest Wally World is actually 15 mintues away.

I am not going to lie, feeling a ton of anxiety and stress.  From not knowing where we are staying to not having any water, to trying to cook when it is 30 degrees outside and you want to minimize water use.  I know I have to let that shit go, and John is the king of “it will all work out” but this is a big test for me and sometimes feels like more work than a relaxing vacation.

Ps.  The van hasn’t stalled out since the first day.  Fingers crossed it was just a function of too much driving those first two days.
